Special Session on Interactive Learning for Robots at RO-MAN 2014
August 25-29, 2014, Edinburgh, Scotland
http://rehabilitationrobotics.net/ro-man14/?page_i...
Call for Papers
The vision of intelligent interactive robots continues to become more
realistic with technological advances in robotics. The increase in the
capabilities of robots presents boundless opportunities for them to perform
useful tasks for and with humans. However, it is not feasible to pre-program
robots for all possible environments, users and tasks. Instead, robots
should be able to acquire new capabilities by interacting with its users or
its environment. An emerging community at the intersection of machine learning,
human-robot interaction, language processing and robot perception seeks to
address challenges in realizing such robots capable of interactive learning.
This special session aims to provide a forum to present recent work from this
community. We expect the session to draw interdisciplinary participation
allowing a broader perspective than those in the core communities. This
viewpoint is crucial to developing interactive learning robots with a more
holistic perspective than is currently the state-of-the-art.
The topics for our special session include, but are not limited to: ?
- Robot learning from interaction with gestures ?
- Robot learning from verbal interaction ?
- Robot learning from multimodal interaction ?
- Robot learning from human demonstrations ?
- Robot learning from human feedback ?
- Robot learning from social interactions ?
- Robot learning from interaction with a single human ?
- Robot learning from interaction with multiple humans ?
- Human and robot learning mutually through interaction ?
- Evaluation of robots using any form of interactive learning
