BigData 2014 - IEEE BigData 2014 Taipei Satellite Session

The IEEE BigData 2014 Taipei Satellite Session will be held in Taipei, in the north of Taiwan. This city is a vibrant blend of traditional culture and cosmopolitan life. The conference venue is located in the 3rd Lecture Hall, Complex Building, National Taipei University of Technology, near the railway station and business district.

The city is situated in a basin in northern Taiwan that was inhabited by aboriginal peoples until settlers from China moved into the area about 300 years ago. The first permanent settlements were in the present-day districts of Wanhua and Datong, in western Taipei. These areas still retain many of their old customs, as visitors can readily see in the architecture, sculptures, and ceremonies of the old streets and temples.
A more recent cultural focal point in the city is the National Palace Museum, which houses hundreds of thousands of Chinese antiques and art works. The museum is located in the north of the city and is a must-see for lovers of ancient Chinese culture.
Eastern Taipei was largely underused fields until the nineteen-seventies, when the city began to develop the area as a financial and commercial district. Here, the modern face of Taipei shines through, with its glass and steel skyscrapers, wide boulevards, and the World Trade Center.
Taipei also boasts dozens of world-class performance venues, where you can enjoy world-class theater and concert events. The city also offers a wide range of other diversions -- shopping malls, nightclubs, live-music bars, quality hotels, and exotic restaurants. Don’t miss the 101 Tower, which is one of the highest building in the world. There are a lot of department stores around this area and it is the best place for shopping.
National Taipei University of Technology
National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech) was founded in 1912, the year when the Republic of China came into existence, as a pioneering academic institute dedicated to industrial education. It has been renamed since then Taiwan Public Industrial School of Taipei (1919), National Taipei Institute of Technology (1981), and National Taipei University of Technology (1997). Since 1912, over 90,000 students have graduated from the University. At home and abroad, they have demonstrated outstanding achievements in professional fields as well as academic arenas. They are not only the assets of the University but also of the nation because of the crucial contributions they have made to technological and economic development of Taiwan.
On February 1, 2011, Dr. Leehter Yao became Taipei Tech's thirteenth President.
