MPMM 2014 - Maintenance Performance Measurement and Management Conference
Topics/Call fo Papers
CEMUC® aims primarily at developing the scientific and technological research and its dissemination and promotion in the areas of Mechanical and Materials Engineering and other related Sciences and Technologies. CEMUC® seeks to develop its research groups, promote the integration of scientific and technical skills and guarantee its funding, whilst preserving the freedom of research and the spirit of initiative of researchers, which should strive to follow proficiency standards to allow CEMUC® to be recognized as a reference European research center.
It is active in six Research Groups, organized into two main areas:
Production and Design, formed by the Research Groups on Structural Integrity, Smart Industrial Robotics and Management and Experimental and Computer Aided Technology;
Area of Micro and Nanotechnology, formed by the Research Groups on Surface Engineering, Nanomaterials and Microfabrication and Sensors and Nanoelectrochemistry.
CEMUC® now gathers about 130 persons, of whom 80 are PhD researchers from different backgrounds (Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Dentistry), from different institutions (FCTUC, FMUC, FEUP, ISEC, IP de Leiria, IP de Viseu, UAveiro, UMinho, IP de Tomar, IP de Castelo Branco).
CEMUC®'s budget is about 2.0 million Euros / year (FCT funding, research projects, contracts with industry), and 30% of this value comes from industrial contracts.
The scientific activity is reflected in publications in refereed international journals and ISI indexed, with a ratio of 1.6 articles per doctor per year.
CEMUC® was graded as "Excellent" in the last three international assessments (1999, 2003, 2007) and its Chairman is PhD José Valdemar Fernandes.
