IoT 2014 - 1st Workshop on IoT - Internet of Things (IoT 2014)
Topics/Call fo Papers
The latest advances in communication technologies such as wireless sensor networks, radio identification and machine-to-machine (M2M) devices are fuelling a new communication paradigm - The Internet of Things (IoT). IoT carries us into a new ubiquitous computing and communication era, allowing the creation of entirely new application in a wide variety of fields like e-health or intelligent transportation.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is new paradigm which envisions a future network of dozen billions the things communicating with each other and with people. With all objects of daily living connected to Internet, the way we live in our community will be radically transformed. Scientific community, industry, and governments are paying an increasing attention to IoT, recognizing its importance in the future Internet.
Still in its infancy and with a signi?cant growth potential IoT still faces huge challenges to became a reality. The IoT success depends strongly on standardization, which will provide interoperability, compatibility, reliability, and cost effective operations at a global scale.
The proposed International Workshop addresses topics of increasing importance in the emerging area of the Internet of Things (IoT). The aim of the workshop is to bring together experts with different experiences to cover the complexity of the questions involved in IoT and to provide a forum for developing new ideas and approaches on how to address some of the major challenges in the field.
The workshop targets to identify the most pressing open questions in the field and to develop a research agenda for the Internet of Things for disabled people. The technical discussion will be focused on the communications aspects and key enabling technologies for IoT. Special attention within the workshop is given on experiences with IoT for Assisted Living.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the current activities around IoT and realise the market opportunities that will arise from IoT applications.
This workshop will be held within CISTI’2014 because the internet of things is a technological revolution that represents the future of Systems Information, ubiquitous computing and communications technologies, and its development depends on technical innovation in a number of important fields, from system information to smart things technology.
