GIScience 2014 - Eighth International Conference on Geographic Information Science

The Eighth International Conference on Geographic Information Science is hosted by Vienna University of Technology, Austria. GIScience 2014 continues a highly successful series of conferences started in 2000 that regularly brings together more than 200 international participants from academia, industry, and government organizations to discuss and advance the state-of-the-art in Geographic Information Science.
September 23, 2014 is dedicated to Workshops and Tutorial. The main conference takes place from September 24 to 26, 2014, and offers two distinct submission streams: Full Papers and Extended Abstracts.
GIScience conference series has always had a focus on fundamental research themes and questions. GIScience 2014 strongly welcomes articles and proposals covering emerging topics and fundamental research findings across all sectors of Geographic Information Science. The submission of papers dealing with GIS applications is discouraged.

Submission
Full Papers
Full papers will be thoroughly reviewed by at least three members of the international program committee. High-quality submissions will be accepted for presentation at the conference and published in Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) Series by Springer. Manuscripts must describe original work that has neither been published before, nor is currently under review elsewhere. Papers must be written in English according to Springer LNCS formatting guidelines and should not exceed 15 pages (including title, figures, and references). Full papers must be submitted in PDF format through the Easychair website by February 10, 2014.
Extended Abstracts
Extended abstracts of up to 1500 words (including title, figures, and references), describing work in progress, will be screened by at least three members of the international program committee. Accepted extended abstract will be selected for oral or poster presentation and published in a separate conference proceedings volume. Extended abstracts must be written in English according to this formatting guidelines and submitted in PDF format through the Easychair website by May 5, 2014.
Workshops & Tutorials
Workshops and tutorials provide complementary discussion environments for presenting and discussing ideas in a less formal and more open way than is possible at the main conference. Such environments provide an excellent opportunity for researchers to present work-in-progress and get detailed feedback. Workshops and tutorials are welcome on all topics of interest to GIScience attendees and should be focused either on in-depth topics or on novel and emerging research areas. Workshop and tutorial proposals must be written in English and submitted via email to paolo-AT-geoinfo.tuwien.ac.at by January 13, 2014.
