EnA-BDCT 2014 - The 1st Workshop on Energy Aware Big Data Computing in Telecommunications (EnA-BDCT)
Topics/Call fo Papers
Due to next generation mobile network rollouts, increasingly use of smart phones and rise of social media, big data computing becomes extremely important to communication service providers all over the globe in order to deal with the rise in volume, variety and velocity of information. Power provisioning and energy consumption is one of the major challenges in the field of big data computing in telecommunications. Successfully optimizing the power efficiency in big data computing can help telecommunication service providers to achieve the critical objectives in delivering long-lasting power mobile services that gain new sources of revenue; transforming green operations to achieve business and service excellence; and high-quality customer experience can be driven by building power efficient smarter mobile networks. Energy costs are over the life time of big data and on each level of a system, and are in the range of the acquisition costs. Optimizing the power efficiency of big data computing therefore is an important research field that attracts many scientists and engineers.
The EnA-BDCT workshop invites unpublished manuscripts from academia and industry on topics pertaining to the needs and approaches for energy aware big data computing in telecommunications. This workshop is particularly dedicated to bringing together industry vendors and employers and academia researchers in the context of ICCCN2014, so that each can hear the challenges faced by the others, can learn the various approaches to these challenges, and can generally have opportunities to exchange ideas and brainstorm solutions.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Energy Aware Big Data and High Performance Computing Applications
Energy Aware Big Data Models
Energy Aware Big Data Architectures
Energy Aware Big Data Management in Telecommunications
Energy Aware Big Data Search and Mining in Telecommunications
Energy Aware Algorithms and Programming Techniques for Big Data Processing
