The 2014 Multi-Agent-Based Simulation (MABS) workshop is the fifteenth of a series that began in 1998. Its scientific focus lies in the confluence of social sciences and multi-agent systems, with a strong application/empirical vein, and its emphasis is stressed on (i) exploratory agent based simulation as a principled way of undertaking scientific research in the social sciences and (ii) using social theories as an inspiration to new frameworks and developments in multi-agent systems.
The excellent quality level of this workshop has been recognized since its inception and its proceedings have been regularly published in Springer's Lecture Notes series. MABS 2014 will be hosted at AAMAS 2014, the 13th International Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems, which will take place in Paris, France, on May 5th-9th, 2014.
Aims & scope
The meeting of researchers from MAS engineering and the social/economic/organizational sciences is extensively recognized for its role in cross-fertilization, and it has undoubtedly been an important source of inspiration for the body of knowledge that has been produced in the MAS area.
The MABS workshop series continues with its goal to bring together researchers interested in MAS engineering, with researchers focused on finding efficient solutions to model complex social systems, in such areas as economics, management, organizational and social sciences in general. In all these areas, agent theories, metaphors, models, analysis, experimental designs, empirical studies, and methodological principles, all converge into simulation as a way of achieving explanations and predictions, exploration and testing of hypotheses, better designs and systems.
Topics
The range of technical issues that MABS has dealt with and continues to deal with is diverse and extensive and includes:
SIMULATION METHODOLOGIES:
SIMULATION OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC BEHAVIOUR:
APPLICATIONS:
BIG DATA AND MULTI-AGENT-BASED SIMULATION:
Important dates
January 20th, 2014 - Electronic abstract submission.
January 22nd, 2014 - Paper submission deadline.
February 19th, 2014 - Notification of acceptance/rejection.
March 10th, 2014 - Camera-ready due date.
May 5th-6th, 2014 - Workshop dates.
Publication
All accepted papers will be included in the AAMAS 2014 workshop proceedings.
In addition, following the tradition of the previous MABS workshops, we intend to publish the accepted papers, after a further reviewing process, in Springer-Verlag's Multi-Agent-Based Simulation book series, Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence.
The preliminary schedule for the post-proceedings process is the following:
October 2014 - Revised camera-ready papers.
December 2014 - Publication of the post-proceedings.
