The 10th International Conference on Optical Particle Characterization 2014 will be held at the AIST Tokyo Waterfront, Tokyo, Japan, during March 10 and 14, 2014. It is an international scientific conference which aims to contribute for a development of the whole science and technology on the particle characterization with light, succeeding the basic principle of the previous successful OPC meetings. It follows the series of conferences on OPC (and OPS = Optical Particle Sizing - the former name of the conference series) since 1987*. It also will be the third meeting held in Japan, following to OPS1993 in Yokohama and OPC2004 in Kyoto.
The theme covers all the aspects of optical particle sizing and characterization using the electromagnetic radiation to measure the properties of particles in various phase including “Fine bubbles”(ultrafine-bubbles and micro-bubbles),“Bio-particles”(bacteria, viruses etc.) and the particles at the surface (for example, Si wafer). Previously, the emphasis has been on the scattering of visible light, but the applications of quantum optical method and of other wavelengths such as X-rays, ultraviolet and infrared light may be included. The conference program covers theoretical and experimental work, pertaining to the fundamentals of optical particle sizing and characterization as well as its scientific, technological and industrial applications.
* including, Rouen, France (1987), Tempe, USA (1990), Yokohama, Japan (1993), Nurnberg, Germany (1995), Minneapolis, USA (1998), Brighton, UK (2001), Kyoto, Japan (2004) and Gratz, Austria (2007). Also the meeting in USA (2010) was planned but cancelled.
