The Department of Communications Media at Indiana University of Pennsylvania will host the fifth annual Laurel Highlands Communications Conference (LHCC) on Thursday, April 10, and Friday, April 11, 2014, at Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex in Indiana, Pennsylvania.

The LHCC will begin on Thursday morning with a keynote address followed by individual and panel presentations throughout the afternoon. The Poster Presentation Session will be open on Thursday afternoon. The Media Showcase exhibition will be open on Friday morning along with additional presentations and panels throughout the day.
The conference welcomes the presentation of a broad range of research topics relevant to the study of communications, media, and related topics. Past presentations have included media ethics, crisis communication, media criticism, instructional technology, and social media, to name a few. Presentations of interest to undergraduate communications and media students are particularly encouraged.
Call for Proposals
Faculty members, graduate students, undergraduate students, and industry professionals are welcome to submit proposals in the following categories:
Individual or Team Session Presentation
Please submit the completed LHCC 2014 Proposal Form along with an abstract of 250 words or less indicating the title and content of your presentation and participant outcomes. Session presentations of 30 minutes total time will be scheduled for both days of the conference. Please review the Session Submission Guidelines .
Panel Presentation
Please submit the completed LHCC 2014 Proposal Form along with an abstract of 250 words or less indicating the title and content of your panel and participant outcomes. Panel presentations of 30 minutes total time will be scheduled for both days of the conference. Please review the Panel Presentation Submission Guidelines .
Poster Presentation
Please submit the completed LHCC 2014 Proposal Form along with an abstract of 150 words or less indicating the title and content of your poster and participant outcomes. Please review the Poster Presentation Submission Guidelines.
Media Showcase
The Media Showcase will feature photography, graphic design, audio, video, simulations, animations, game designs, and other forms of electronic media. Submissions for the Media Showcase should include the completed LHCC 2014 Proposal Form along with a project description of 150 words or less as well as an electronic copy of the project. Submissions must also be accompanied by the LHCC Media Showcase Release Form. Please review the Media Showcase Submission Guidelines.
Deadline for Submission of All Proposals: January 15, 2014
Conference proceedings will be published in the summer of 2014. Conference presenters who which to have their scholarly papers published in the LHCC 2014 Conference Proceedings should review the Conference Proceedings Submissions Guidelines .
Conference Registration
Conference attendees, both presenters and non-presenters, must complete a conference registration form and submit that with the conference registration fee. Presenter Conference Registrationforms are due by March 10, 2014. Conference Registrationforms for attendees who are not presenting are due by March 31, 2014.
