Topics/Call fo Papers
Mine fill is recognised worldwide as an integral component of most underground mining operations. The stability of and safety within underground mines are enhanced by the closely controlled placement of mine fill into stope voids. The 11th International Symposium on Mining with Backfill will explore both the theoretical and practical aspects of the application of mine fill, with many case studies expected from both underground and open pit mines.
Mine Fill 2014 will be of interest to mining practitioners, engineering students, operating and regulatory professionals, consultants, researchers and interested individuals and groups from within the wider community.
It is expected that the technical programme will include comprehensive and highly relevent technical papers emphasising innovation and application of the state-of-the-art mine fill technologies by mine operators in their quest to improve mine safety and productivity. There will be a trade show and an active social programme.
Symposium Themes
Legal, safety, environmental and financial drivers for backfill
Bulkhead capacity and fill strategies
Binders, admixtures, additives and other chemicals to improve fill performances (strength, early stage hydration, reticulation/placement, wearing, segregation, etc.)
Field fill mass blast and stress monitoring before and after exposure, and data analysis
Mine fill geomechanics, numerical modelling, interaction between backfill and rock mass
Laboratory testing on static and dynamic behaviours of backfill
Hazard and risk control practices in backfill application
Application of new technology and new equipment in mining with backfill
Case studies
