SSSI 2014 - Third Self, Selves and Sexualities International Conference 2014

The third Self, Selves and Sexualities International Conference 2014, is co-organised by Mel Duffy, from the School of Nursing (SON), and Jean-Philippe Imbert, from the School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies (SALIS). SON is part of the Faculty of Science and Health, and SALIS belongs to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, at Dublin City University.
In light of Dublin City University’s involvement with Indian institutions and researchers, and with the India Ireland Institute which supports collaboration in education, research and knowledge exchange between Ireland and India, we would particularly welcome papers on Indian Sexuality Studies Research. This Indian focus will not preclude the inclusion of other culture-specific papers in any panel but will inform organically and where appropriate the parallel sessions.
The intention of this third Self, Selves and Sexualities Conference Committee is to provide a global platform on which to discuss in an open fashion the varied processes and delineations of sexual cultures, sexual identities and gender role formation. In so doing, we wish to elaborate on the many debates informing the cultural, economical, ethical, historical, and social foundations of sexuality, at both personal and societal levels. We welcome academic paper proposals and poster proposals from the disciplines of the fields of Arts, Health, Humanities and Social Sciences, this from all socio-cultures. Papers and posters favouring cross-disciplinary perspectives will be given preference, so as to generate dialogue between Indian Sexuality Studies and non-Indian Sexuality-related topics.
