TAA 2014 - Special Session on "Towards Automation in Anaesthesia"
Topics/Call fo Papers
The aim of this workshop is to present an outline of the work that is being done towards the development of intelligent advisor systems to improve the quality of healthcare. The session focuses on the field of Anaesthesia. Speakers from different areas will present their views and work. This includes clinicians that will present their needs and expectations for engineering applications in specific medical fields. It is very important to understand the clinician point of view so that systems can be developed and have a serious impact in healthcare. The goal of Automation in Anesthesia is to move towards patient individualized/tailor-made anaesthesia: "How can we identify patient variability? How can we integrate support systems? What do the clinicians consider important? What can technology bring to the field?"
The workshop would gather anaesthesiologists, engineers, mathematicians and veterinarians with a common goal to improve healthcare through technology (focusing on sensors for diagnostic systems, modeling, signal processing and control, automation systems for the operating room).
Organizer: Catarina S Nunes, Serviço de Anestesiologia, Centro Hospitalar do Porto, Portugal
