IWVCC 2014 - The First International Workshop on Virtualization and Cloud Computing
Topics/Call fo Papers
With the rapid adoption of cloud computing, virtualization has become the cornerstone technology to manage large clouds. While significant progress has been made in provisioning, monitoring and control of large-scale data centers used in public clouds, many open issues remain. Examples include energy efficient placement of VMs, I/O virtualization for appropriate I/O capacity allocation to VMs and efficient hot-spot reduction and dynamic resource allocation of virtual machines. On-chip power monitoring coupled with fine grained control of voltage and frequency scaling have provided the impetus for the development of new management techniques to take advantage of these hardware and operating system advancements. As popularity and applications of these techniques increase, there is increasing interest in the area, both from the academic research community and the industry.
In this workshop, we aim to bring together different research communities in both academia and industry to discuss interesting directions in this area. The idea is to expose the research community to both broad and specific aspects of these research directions. The event will also provide a platform for interactions and discussions between people involved in cloud computing research.
