EAIA'10 2010 - Emerging M&S Applications in Industry and Academia Symposium (EAIA'10)

The EAIA Symposium is a melting pot for new ideas and innovative applications of M&S. Three tracks have established different domain specific views on the common focus: How is M&S applied to contribute to fulfill requirements of industry and academia in new and better ways ? The three tracks are looking at emerging M&S Applications from the viewpoint of Engineering, Business and Industry, and Education.

Modeling and Simulation and Engineering (MSEng) Track

The viewpoint of the symposium shows the neighborhood of M&S applications to the engineering discipline that is also more interested in finding applicable solutions (in contrast to science where the focused is more on extending the knowledge). Theoretical underpinnings are welcome, but the track will provide a forum for papers that address the engineering style applications of modeling and simulation. Simulation replaces more and more the traditional experimentation. Where until recently prototypes were created to conduct experiments, virtual prototypes are increasingly used in support of the engineering process. In order to support this use of M&S in engineering, the simulation must fulfill certain requirements, such as being verified and validated for the particular use, or that all data can be obtained in the required form and with the right content. Modeling and Simulation is starting to become ubiquitous in Business and Industry. Emerging technologies and innovative methodologies jointly with M&S are representing technological enablers for Business and Industry that are applied to real world problem analyses and decision support. The workforce is more and more supported by M&S applications for education and training, but also in support of routine task. The Business Application Tracks focuses in innovation both in term of application areas as well as in architecture solutions for real case studies, such as:

Decision Support Simulation Systems

Architectures for hybrid solutions
Modeling and Simulation and Education (MSE) Track

Many educational institutions have begun to offer either courses or entire degree programs in modeling and simulation (M&S). Simultaneously, many disciplines are increasing their use and development of models, simulations, and games as instructional tools. Furthermore, M&S is securing its place as a tool in workforce education, scholastic applications in universities and colleges, and even in schools. In the academic community, the discussion whether M&S is a discipline of its own with a body of knowledge underpinning resulting curricula or if M&S is a tool supporting other discipline is still ongoing. This track is soliciting papers that explore the emerging field of M&S education and issues surrounding its development and use. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

Abstract / Full Paper Submission due 4 Jan 2010 Submit technical articles and experience reports, properly formatted in accordance with these guidelines.
Notification 30 Jan 2010 The program committee will review the papers and determine which ones will be accepted.
Final Paper due 28 Feb 2010 The final version of accepted papers, incorporating changes based on reviewer comments, are due by this date.
Abstracts and papers should be submitted to the SCS Conference Proceedings Management System.
