The British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD) has the great honour of hosting the 25th Congress of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry in 2015. This marks a significant anniversary in the history of iapd and we are committed to making the Congress a memorable one. The decision to hold the meeting in Scotland is already an exciting prospect! The BSPD has a thriving membership of almost 600, including several renowned paediatric dentists. It has a long tradition of hosting successful national and international meetings, including the 1999 iapd Congress in London.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) is in the expert hands of Professor Richard Welbury, who has provided leadership for many past international meetings and is held in high regard for his research and contribution to education. Dr Ben Cole and Dr Rosemary Bryan, who have just stepped down from national roles within BSPD, will now take on the positions of LOC secretary and treasurer respectively. Our appointed commercial conference organisers ‘Meeting Makers’ are based in Glasgow and will ensure delegates receive the best value for money, efficient communication and great Scottish hospitality.
The overall scientific theme ‘The Voice of the Child’ has been chosen to advocate the changing position of children in our world. Delegates will be updated regarding current social theory and policy relating to childhood, the need for safeguarding, and how to engage child-centred approaches within clinical practice and oral health-related research. We want to showcase world-class and holistic dental care for children. Professor Helen Rodd, Chair of the Scientific Committee, has already secured some highly acclaimed speakers in this field, but is also committed to inviting talented new speakers to the arena.
We do hope you will be able to join us in Scotland in 2015.
Helen Rodd
Chair, iapd 2015 Scientific Committee
