Call for Chapters
Proposals Submission Deadline: September 30, 2013
Full Chapters Due: January 30, 2014
For release in the Advances in Computer and Electrical Engineering (ACEE) Book Series.
SUBJECT MATTER
Performance optimization of analog circuits, subsequently, mixed-signal and radiofrequency circuits (AMS/RF), is more than ever a subject of high interest for researchers, R&D engineers, confirmed designers, etc.
Analog circuit design has long been considered as a knowledge intensive, iterative, and multiphase task field. AMS/ RF designers have to have a large portfolio of skills in order to be able to synthesize and design high performance circuits/systems.
Optimization techniques were/are widely used for the purpose of optimally sizing the designed circuits and systems. However, the ceaseless greedy trend towards higher performances is making circuits more and more complex, the use of classical optimization techniques is no longer satisfactory. Few years ago, metaheuristics were proposed. They are widely used in the domains of engineering, and particularly, in the analog field (such as Evolutionary Algorithms, and the recently proposed Swarm Intelligence techniques).
On this basis, this book will collect recent advances in AMS/RF integrated circuit design optimization and will put the stress on future trends in the related research fields. It will bring together the latest research findings in the related areas, theory, applied metaheuristics, sizing techniques and their applications to analog/RF and mixed-signal circuits/systems, covering all the design flow levels, and dealing with such issues imposed by the nanometer technology.
Recommended topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
Evolutionary algorithms and their application to the AMS/RF circuit design and synthesis.
Optimization methods applied to circuit and system design: high-level synthesis, structural synthesis, sizing, etc.
Swarm intelligence in the design automation of AMS/RF circuits.
Optimization techniques for low voltage/ low power analog/RF circuits.
Electromagnetic optimization.
Application of metaheuristics to VLSI layout design.
Hybrid techniques.
Circuit design methodologies and design automation enabled by behavioral modelling and/or symbolic techniques including optimization of performances, reliability, and yield for analog, mixed-signal, RF circuits.
Recent advances in analog CAD with focus on optimization tools and methodologies.
Simulation-based optimization techniques.
Optimization problems related to the use of the nano-technology in RF/analog designs.
Passive elements’ optimization in RF circuits.
Submission Procedure
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before September 30, 2013, a 2-page chapter proposal (PDF file) clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. They should also include a tentative chapter title, author names and affiliations, contact e-mails, and a ~500 word abstract. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by October 30, 2013 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by January 30, 2014. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
