Video services are witnessing a rapid growth in mobile networks. In this context, HTTP streaming services (Youtube-like) are the most represented video services, but real-time streaming and mobile TV are gaining in importance. The large variability of the wireless channel due to fast fading, users’ mobility and to the flow level dynamics of users makes the delivery of video services over mobile network a challenging task.
Although continuity in video delivery is the main measure for Quality of Experience (QoE) for video users, the detailed QoS measures depend on the specificities of each video service. For instance, while congestion periods lead to re-buffering for http streaming services (the video restarts after the congestion), the contents that are not delivered during the congestion period are definitely lost for real-time streaming and mobile TV. The aim of this workshop is to propose and analyze solutions that enhance the performance of video delivery over wireless networks, from users’ point of view (QoS/QoE), but also from the network side (capacity and energy efficiency).
We solicit up to 6-pages papers (IEEE conference format) on modeling, measurements and optimization of video performance over wireless networks. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
1- QoS/QoE for streaming services over wireless networks (3G/LTE/WiFi/ WiMAX)
2- Adaptation of mobile video content
3- Architectures (e.g. client-server, peer-to-peer) for streaming delivery
4- Video delivery over Delay Tolerant Networks
5- 3GPP MBMS/eMBMS
6- DVB-H / NGH
7- Convergence between 3GPP and DVB solutions
8- Continuity of video delivery under mobility in heterogeneous environments
9- Energy-efficiency of video delivery
10- Economic issues for video delivery solutions over mobile networks
11- Measurements and testbeds
