The Central University Library “Eugen Todoran” kindly invites you to the Regional Identity and Social Cohesion international conference which will take place between October 24-26, 2013 in Timisoara, Romania.
The conference is organized in partnership with Pro Biblioteca Association.
The Conference aims at discussing, from a multidisciplinary academic perspective, the theme of local identity, focusing on the historical region of Banat (a region which is nowadays part of three different countries: Romania, Serbia, Hungary), without excluding, however, the general issue of local identity and comparative approaches. The conference is attended by specialists in anthropology, law, economics, philosophy, geography, history, political science, sociology, cultural studies, science and information, etc. We are focused on highlighting new research methods and techniques considering issues of identity and their application in regional studies in general, and particularly those of Banat. The conference will take place in four sessions:
Session I: Heritage, Memory and Identity Construction
Session II: Social Capital and Regional Development
Session III: Local History vs. National History
