The Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering at the University of Pisa is very pleased to announce the 3rd International Conference on Transportation Infrastructures - ICTI 2014 - which will be held in April 2014 under the auspices of the International Society for Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Transportation Infrastructures (iSMARTi). This conference is the third in a highly successful series that began in China followed by the second conference in Brazil, and it occurs at four- year intervals.
The ICTI series aims to promote and discuss efficient planning, design, construction and maintenance of transportation facilities and infrastructure assets by addressing important issues related to roads, railways, airports, intermodal and mass transit systems.
The 3rd ICTI 2014 is focused on sustainable development and preservation of transportation infrastructure assets, by eco-efficient and cost-effective actions needed to correct undesirable situations. The conference aims to present and discuss current knowledge of the ever-changing challenges to scientists, engineers, managers, and professionals from around the world who are involved in sustainable development and maintenance of transportation infrastructure assets.
Strategies, analytical tools, ideas and models that can be used to achieve sustainability of transportation infrastructure, with particular focus on minimizing ecological damage and conserving human lives, reducing greenhouse gas and noise pollution while optimizing the system efficiency through minimizing the use of energy and natural resources.
Conference themes will include the following topics:
? Advanced modeling tools (LCA, LCC, BCA, performance prediction, design tools and systems)
? Data management (monitoring and evaluation)
? Emerging technologies and equipments
? Innovative strategies and practices
? Environmental sustainability issues
? Eco-friendly design and materials
