Visual information is being captured, shared and used at an unprecedented rate in a wide range of applications. Machine learning is playing a key role in making visual information useful by helping in various visual information processing tasks such as segmentation, object detection and recognition, and visual search etc. The goal of this special session is to bring together researchers from machine learning, computer vision, and image and video retrieval to exchange ideas and share recent research results. We, therefore, invite papers using machine learning to address one
or more of the following topics:
