Context and Scope
-----------------
Cloud Computing promises to deliver computational resources on demand as
services that are commoditised and delivered as in traditional utilities
such as electricity, gas, water and telephony. High Utility with Cloud
services can already be achieved for compute, storage and communication
resources but also for hosted software and data. UCC is the premier
IEEE/ACM conference covering all areas related to Cloud Computing as a
Utility. There is also increasing interest from commercial providers to
offer business and revenue models around the services they offer.
Understanding how these model could be used to provide utility for both
users, intermediary brokers (aggregators) and providers will also be of
interest for this conference.
This will be the 6th UCC in a successful conference series. Previous
events were held in Shanghai, China (Cloud 2009), Melbourne, Australia
(Cloud 2010 & UCC 2011), Chennai, India (UCC 2010), and Chicago, USA (UCC
2012). UCC 2013 happens while cloud providers world-wide add new services
and increase utility at a high pace and is therefore of high relevance
for both academic and industrial research.
Topics of Interest

Submissions are invited on the following themes as well as additional
interesting related topics:
? Principles and foundations of Utility Computing, including pricing and
service models
? Architectural models to achieve Utility in Clouds
? Designs and deployment models for Clouds: private, public, hybrid,
federated, aggregated
? Cloud Computing middleware, stacks, tools, delivery networks and
services on all layers (XaaS)
? Virtualisation technologies and other enablers
? Scalability and resource management: brokering, scheduling, capacity
planning, parallelism and elasticity, as well as marketplaces
? Cloud management: autonomic, adaptive, self-*, SLAs, performance
models and monitoring
? Applications: games, social networks, scientific computing (e-science)
and business
? Mobile and energy-efficient use of Clouds
? Beyond technology: Cloud business and legal implications, such as
security, privacy, trust and jurisdiction especially in Utility
contexts
Paper Submission
----------------
Authors are invited to submit papers electronically through EasyChair.
Manuscripts may not exceed 8 letter size (8.5 x 11) pages including
figures, tables and references using the IEEE format for conference
proceedings (print area of 6-1/2 inches (16.51 cm) wide by 8-7/8 inches
(22.51 cm) high, two-column format with a 3/8 inch (0.81 cm) space
between them, single-spaced 10-point Times fully justified text).
Submitted papers must represent original unpublished research that is
not currently under review for any other conference or journal. Papers
not following these guidelines will be rejected without review and
further action may be taken, including (but not limited to) notifications
sent to the heads of the institutions of the authors and sponsors of the
conference. The proceedings will be published by the IEEE Computer
Society, USA, and will be made available online through the IEEE Digital
Library.

Journal Special Issue
---------------------
IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing (TCC) is organising a Special Issue
which encourages submission of revised and extended versions of 2-3 best
papers (based on votes of a panel) in the area of Cloud Computing from
our conference. The special issue also seeks direct submission of papers
that present 'new' ideas for the first time in TCC. All papers will be
peer-reviewed and selected competitively based on their originality and
merit as per requirement of TCC. All queries on this special issue should
be directed to its guest editors. Details on this special issue will be
informed about in a separate Call for Papers.
Workshops
---------
We encourage high quality workshops from the community, which relate to
one or more of the topics identified above. Individuals interested in
organising a workshop are encouraged to consult the separate Call for
Workshops.
Venue
-----
UCC 2013 will take place in the Dorint Hotel Dresden, in the centre of
the lively capital of Saxony. Dresden comprises much more than the
historic center with the ‘Semperoper’ opera house and the ‘Frauenkirche’
church. Dotted along the approximately 30 km long stretch of the Elbe
River which runs through the city, we find many treasures: castles,
villas, vineyards, historic funiculars, steam paddle boats that are up
to 130 years old. During the conference week, the 579th annual
Striezelmarkt will welcome all conference participants for a unique
artesanal and culinary experience.
