SNSE 2013 - International Workshop on e-Science in Nuclear Science and Engineering

In recent years, computationally intensive simulations and processing of large data sets have become a necessity in the research of Nuclear Science and Engineering. Particularly, some large projects in the research of Nuclear Science and Engineering need an international cooperation of different countries. For example, the project of International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) is the biggest international project collaborated by seven counties and unions. Nowadays, researchers in this filed need to use all kinds of resources located in different places, and collaboratively develop software, collect data sets and conduct scientific experiments.That is to say, Nuclear Science and Engineering is becoming a large scale science that increasingly be carried out through distributed global collaborations enabled by the Internet. Thus, E-science will play a more and more important role in the research of this discipline. As a result, there are many activities should be done to develop new computational tools and infrastructures to support scientific discovery in this discipline.
The workshop will bring together leading researchers to share their experiences in software development, infrastructure (HPC, Grid and Cloud), data processing and databases in Nuclear Science and Engineering. And, the workshop will provide the opportunity to present and discuss the important applications and future development of E-science in Nuclear Science and Engineering.
