VeSoNets 2013 - The First International Workshop on Vehicular Social Networks
Topics/Call fo Papers
1st International Workshop on Vehicular Social Networks
(VeSoNets 2013), to be held in Lyon, France, on 7th october 2013.
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and vehicular communication services have been increasing in recent years with the arising popularity of smart handheld devices with network capabilities and access to user information. However, most vehicular communication systems focus on safety services and applications and do not pay the required attention to the services that are user-oriented. Social networks are one of the latest revolutions that have taken the world by storm; they are so popular nowadays that people want to use them anytime and everywhere in order to facilitate human interaction as well as creating professional relationships. Their use within vehicles has attracted many companies to develop and to integrate basic social features to navigation applications. Although, social networks have a lot of potential for vehicular scenarios, they bring up a number of technical challenges that need to be tackled.
This workshop will include and solicit contributions addressing technical and research issues, development projects and standardization activities. The objective is to bring together under one roof researchers, scientists and other like minded people with a common objective of using tomorrow’s technologies for today’s vehicular development. We aim to provide a platform for discussion on basic challenges faced when considering the social angle in a vehicular environment, to share latest research and thoughts on vehicular social networks and to uphold the research activities in this area.
