EVTeC 2014 and APE Japan 2014
“Future Sustainable Society beyond Cars”
Electric vehicles have become a hot topic, and symposiums and exhibitions have been held in countries all around the world. Hybrid electric vehicles are already on sale, and the mass production and global sale of EVs started a few years ago. International standardization is also the subject of proactive proposals and lively discussions.
We are no longer interested only in car technology but also in future sustainable society, where EV technology must play an important role. As a step toward achieving a low carbon society, we need to create a forum for vehicle researchers and engineers from inside and outside Japan to pool their collective strength and share discussion.
EVTeC is the conference sponsored by JSAE, the biggest academic society on automotive engineers in Japan. It includes EV, HEV, FCV, PHV and other related various technologies. The first EVTeC was held in May, 2011 with great success. In spite of its holding just after the East Japan Great Earthquake Disaster, 66 papers were presented gathering 230 participants.
EVTeC’14 will be held at Pacifico Yokohama, alongside 2014 JSAE Annual Congress (Spring). More than 70,000 people are expected to visit 2014 Automotive Engineering Exposition as well. Participation in the Spring Congress and the exhibition is free of charge and these events give an excellent opportunity to see the very forefront of activities being carried out in Japan.
APE is the European based international conference created and organized by the SIA (French Society of Automotive Engineers). The last four editions held in 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2011 demonstrated that APE conferences are the unique events dedicated to Automotive Power Electronics. Whole automotive supply chain, power industries, and research institutes can meet and exchange technological information. They focus on “in-car” systems & components which are included in not only EVs, HEVs and FCVs but also conventional vehicles. The power level of the application field ranges from 100W to 100kW. The constraints on cost, quality, and capacity - much higher than in other industrial domains - require dedicated and innovative solutions. APE conferences are giving a platform to share trends, challenges, innovations and solutions.
APE Japan is the sister conference of APE, and it is organized by JSAE. We respect the spirits of APE, and plan to hold new conference in Japan by sharing the same concept and mindset of APE.
Now, based on the similarity and mutuality between EVTeC and APE Japan, we decide to combine these two conferences into one new international conference, EVTeC 2014 and APE Japan 2014, in order to set up a more solid platform for vehicle industry and academia.
We are really looking forward to meeting you in Yokohama in May, 2014!
