FSE 2010
Digital Engine Driving Social Creativity
ACM SIGSOFT / FSE is one of the premier forums for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent ideas, innovations, trends, and experiences in the field of software engineering. The distinctive features of FSE are an emphasis on the foundations of the field, the relatively small scale of the event, and the intense intellectual engagement among participants.

Digital Engine Driving Social Creativity is the theme of FSE-18. It acknowledges the increasingly important role software plays in the life of our society through the technology that sustains it and through the social interactions software systems facilitate.

The Programmatic Agenda for FSE-18 is driven by the desire to complement research on the foundations of the field with the presentation of novel ideas in their formative stage. The former will define the core program of the symposium while the latter will shape the offerings of the associated workshops. The conference program will also include exciting keynote talks by leaders in the field, a software engineering education symposium, co-located events and meetings, a doctoral symposium, and more. The organizers are committed to a program that facilitates a fertile exchange of ideas and experiences likely to affect the professional life of each participant.

High Quality Submissions are invited for papers describing original unpublished research results of a theoretical, empirical, experimental, and system nature. Mature results and integrative perspectives on the field will be solicited by the main symposium track and evaluated by the program committee. The workshop organizers will seek papers with a focus on uncharted research directions and a critical analysis of the state of the art.

Opportunities for Professional Engagement are available at all levels. Workshops, research demonstrations, and paper presentations offer possibilities for training and technological assessment. The doctoral symposium is designed to help young researchers gain a head start in their chosen profession. College students can serve as volunteers and enjoy an intellectually enriching experience.

Santa Fe, New Mexico, is a location rich with the history of the Americas and one of the most visited places in the world. It is recognized as one of the major centers for arts, crafts, and culture. The surrounding landscape is breathtaking and inspiring. Georgia O'Keefe found a home here and native American culture flourished over centuries with ancient sites that are easy to explore.
