This initiative aims to establish a new symposium in the area of architectural design for dependable, safe and secure systems, which would be an exclusive forum for exchanging views on the theory and practice for architecting critical systems. A critical system is characterized by the perceived severity of consequences that system failures may cause. In that respect, in addition to appropriate development methods, techniques and tools, a critical system also requires the provision of assurances that it is able to fulfil its specified service.
This new symposium would bring together four different communities that have their own respective dissemination forums, and which are working on software architectures’ notations, methods, techniques and processes from different perspectives, namely dependability, safety, security and testing.
The three events that the proposed new symposium is bringing together are
