ICDE 2013 - 25th ICDE World Conference on Open and Distance Learning

The 25th ICDE World Conference will be hosted by Tianjin Open University, China, on 16-18 October 2013. The abstract submission deadline is 30 April 2013.
The ICDE World Conference on Open and Distance Education is widely recognized as the leading world event in open and distance education and offers a forum for the presentation of cutting edge developments, network building, and professional development.
The World Conference attracts delegates from around the globe representing the research community, teaching staff, management of educational institutions, the public sector, and both training companies and suppliers from the private sector.
Over the past 75 years since the establishment of International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE), international open and distance education has been making tremendous achievements with the concept of life-long learning, economic globalization, and advancement of educational technology. However, open and distance education is now facing with new opportunities and great challenges.
It is of great significance when we come to summarize the achievements made in the field of open and distance education so far, to predicate the upcoming trends of distance education development and to define our new missions in building life-long learning systems and society. We believe that through the world conference, we can strengthen friendship and partnership among educators and counterparts from different countries, facilitate scientific development of open and distance education throughout the world and give impetus to economic development, social progress and human civilization.
Theme
The theme of the 25th ICDE World Conference is "New Strategies for Global Open, Flexible and Distance Learning."
With a view of reflecting a comprehensive and accurate understanding of the theme, seven sub-themes have been provided: culture, system, technology, resources, quality and services, and assisted learning, which are good topics for all the participants to focus on. The 25th ICDE World Conference will provide a broad and rational platform for the educators and the friends from all over the world who have been engaged and interested in open and distance education and particularly for those who show special concern for social disadvantaged groups.
