Topics/Call fo Papers

SBBD is the official database event of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC). It joins researchers, students and practitioners, from Brazil and abroad, for discussing problems related to the main topics in modern database technologies. SBBD has been the largest venue in Latin America for presentation and discussion of research results in the database domain. It usually gathers nearly 500 attendees. Past editions of SBBD have been organized in cooperation with ACM/SIGMOD and partially sponsored by the VLDB Endownment.
Along with technical sessions, the symposium also includes invited talks and tutorials given by distinguished speakers from the national and international database research community. SBBD also promotes a Thesis Workshop, a Demos (Tools) Session, and a Poster Session as co-located events.
Since its 25th edition, in 2010, full papers that are accepted to be presented at SBBD are published in the Journal of Information and Data Management (JIDM). This year, these papers will be published in the October 2013 issue of JIDM. Also, since its 26th edition, in 2011, selected short papers accepted for presentation at SBBD are invited to be re-submitted in an extended English version for a fast-track revision. These short papers will be published in the February 2014 issue of JIDM.
In its 28th edition, the symposium will be held in the city of Recife, in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil, from September 30 to October 3, 2013. It will be organized by the Informatics Center at the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
FULL PAPERS
Full papers should present interesting recent results or novel thought-provoking ideas in any subject on databases and related areas. They must be written in English and must not exceed 16 pages, according to the format of the Journal of Information and Data Management (JIDM). The templates for submission are available at URL http://homepages.dcc.ufmg.br/~mirella/jidm/templat.... Before submitting a full paper, authors must register its title, list of authors and abstract through the submission Web page (EasyChair SBBD 2013 Full Papers is available at URL https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=sbbd20...). Papers must be submitted by deadline using the same submission site.
Full papers submitted to SBBD must not have been simultaneously submitted to any other forum (conference or journal), nor should they have already been published elsewhere. The acceptance of a paper implies that at least one of its authors will register for the symposium to present it. Submitted papers will be reviewed based on originality, relevance, technical soundness and clarity of presentation.
The SBBD full paper review process is performed in two rounds. The first one includes the initial evaluation of the papers and the selection of a set of papers. These selected papers should be revised based on the reviewers’ comments and should be submitted again for a second round, in which the papers will face a fast-track revision. Final selected papers will be published in the Journal of Information and Data Management (JIDM) and presented at SBBD.
The SBBD full paper review process is integrated with the JIDM review procedure, as follows. Papers that were already accepted to JIDM (after SBBD 2012) or that are accepted to SBBD 2013 by the date of the “Final Acceptance Notification” will be published in the October 2013 issue of JIDM and will be presented in the oral sessions of SBBD 2013. Papers that are accepted to JIDM after this date will be published in the February 2014 issue of JIDM and will be presented at SBBD 2014.
For further information, contact the Program Committee Chair: Cristina Dutra de Aguiar Ciferri ? USP (cdac-AT-icmc.usp.br). The subject of the email must be: “[SBBD2013] Full Paper Information”.
SHORT PAPERS
Short papers should present interesting and exciting recent results or novel thought-provoking ideas that are not quite ready in any subject on databases and related areas. Short papers may be written in Portuguese or English and must not exceed 6 pages, according to the format of the Journal of Information and Data Management (JIDM). The templates for submission are available at URL http://homepages.dcc.ufmg.br/~mirella/jidm/templat.... Submitted papers will be reviewed based on originality, relevance, technical soundness and clarity of presentation.
All accepted short papers will be presented as posters in an interactive session and will be published electronically and indexed by BDBComp (http://www.lbd.dcc.ufmg.br/bdbcomp/). Selected short papers accepted for presentation at SBBD 2013 will be invited to be re-submitted in an extended English version for a fast-track revision and will be published in the February 2014 issue of the Journal of Information and Data Management (JIDM).
