ICSE 2014 - International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE 2014)
Topics/Call fo Papers
The ICSE 2014 mentoring program provides prospective submitters to the research track the opportunity to obtain advice on the structure and content of a prospective submission. Each paper submitted for mentoring will be read thoroughly by one mentor. Mentors will be members of a prior (not for the year 2014) ICSE research track program selection committee or experienced past authors of ICSE technical papers. Mentors will spend considerable time reviewing a submission, and will provide high-level feedback on its structure and content. A mentor may also suggest that the work is more suitable for another event at ICSE, such as ICSE Workshops, New Ideas and Emerging Results (NIER), and Software Engineering in Practice (SEIP).
Mentors will be anonymous unless they choose to identify themselves.
Eligibility
This program is available to prospective submitters who have not yet published a full-length research track article at ICSE, ESEC/FSE, ISSTA, ASE or ESEM. The resources of the mentoring program are limited, and access to a mentor is not guaranteed. To make the best use of the program, each submission must be submitted only once to the mentoring program, and should meet the following requirements
? None of the authors must have previously published at ICSE, ESEC/FSE, ISSTA, ASE or ESEM or be working under the direct supervision of a researcher who has previously published
in the above-mentioned venues. The goal of the mentoring program is to help grow the ICSE community, so prospective authors who already have access to a mentor in the community
should not apply to the program.
? To submit a polished and mostly-complete manuscript in the ICSE 2014 conference format. So that mentors can make the most of their reviewing time, papers submitted to the mentoring program should be spell-checked and carefully reviewed for missing words and obvious grammatical problems. Mentors will offer high-level suggestions on the structure and content of the paper, but will not provide basic editorial services (e.g. catching typo, spelling mistakes etc).
Papers that meet the above requirements will be forwarded to the available mentor with the best matching expertise. Requests will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis while mentors remain available, but until 3 May 2013 at the latest.
Mentoring Committee
Mentors will remain anonymous during the mentoring period, unless they choose to identify themselves. The list of mentors will be published here after ICSE 2014 submission deadlines.
How to Submit your Paper for Mentoring
To request a mentor, please submit your manuscript to the web site of the mentoring program:
https://www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi?conf=...
This site will be open for submissions from 1 December 2012. You may request a mentor anytime between 1 December 2012 and 3 May 2013. We strongly recommend that you request a mentor early so you have sufficient time to incorporate the mentor's feedback.
Following your submission, you will hear from us according to the following time-line.
- Within 1 week of your submission, we will confirm whether your submission is eligible for mentoring, and if so, we will confirm the assignment of a mentor.
- Within 7 weeks of your submission, we will send you mentors’ comments and advice about the suitability of your paper for ICSE, as well as possible improvements that you can make to the paper. Thus, submissions received in Easychair by 3rd May 2013, can expect to hear from us latest by 21st June 2013.
Additional queries about ICSE 2014 mentoring may be directed to the mentoring co-chairs.
