Today, with the continuous expansion of the scope of the sensor networks and Internet of Things (IoT), sensor data becomes widely available and large in amount. Here, sensor data is considered as all the data reflecting the real-world dynamics, including GPS trace data of people and vehicles, traffic data from transportation sensor networks using camera and loop sensors, weather data from environment sensor networks (such as temperature and air quality), ticketing data generated from public transportation systems, user-generated content that reflects a user’s presence information (such as tweets, micro-blog, check-ins, photos), and so on. These sensor data is the basis for IoT and the smart world. Due to some new characteristics of sensor data and their corresponding processing requirements, such as multisource, heterogeneous, large-volume, real-time, flowing, continuous, ever-expanding and spatio-temporal, many traditional data processing and integration approaches/frameworks begin to show their limitations, especially when dealing with situations like sensor data and its application deluge. Intensive research is required on sensor data processing and integration theory and technology to transform large-scale sensor data into real business value, while reducing the IT complexity and cost. The SDPI workshop aims at providing the scientific and industrial community a dedicated forum for presenting novel models, methodologies, techniques and solution patterns that address the sensor data processing and integration issues, especially the important progresses and potentials of applying Service Oriented Architecture, Cloud computing and Web 2.0 techniques to dealing with the sensor data processing and integration issues.
We invite authors to submit original research as well as review articles to present latest progresses, determine future goals, and show techniques for future development based on sensor data. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Foundations of Sensor Data Processing and Integration, including models, architectures, methodologies and standards etc.
- Real-time Processing and Integration of Large-scale Sensor Data
- Scalability, Reliability and other Quality Assurance of Large-scale Sensor Data Processing
- Agile and Ad-hoc Integration of Heterogeneous Sensor Data Sources
- Context & Situation-Aware Integration of Sensor Data
- Personalization and Sensor Data Services
- Sensor Data Mining Methodologies and Algorithms
- Tools and Open Platforms for Sensor Data Collection, Transmission and Processing in IoT
- Applications of SOA and Cloud Infrastructure in Sensor Data Processing and Integration
- Case Studies from Smart City and Different Application Domains
Authors are invited to submit papers (max 6 pages), including figures, tables, and references. Papers should be written according to the IEEE Computer Society format: http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formattin....
The submission deadline is May 10, 2013. The PDF or Word file of your paper should be submitted to: edzhao-AT-ncut.edu.cn.
All papers will be reviewed by the Technical Program Committee, which will assess significance, originality, accuracy, and clarity. Workshop papers will be published by IEEE Computer Society together with CPSCom2013 proceedings (EI indexed). Extended versions of selected papers with high quality will be considered for several SCI-index international journals.
