C&C4WF 2013 - Workshop on Context and Cloud Computing for Workflows (C&C4WF'13)
Topics/Call fo Papers
Workshop on Context and Cloud Computing for Workflows (C&C4WF'13)
Organizers: Patrick Brézillon (University Pierre and Marie Curie) and Xiaoliang Fan (Lanzhou University)
Short description:
Workflow technology has merged over the last decade to automating the composition and execution of complex computational and data analysis tasks in both business and science domain. However, the hard lock for a large workflow use is the lack of flexibility. Two lines of research emerge to address the problem of flexibility. Upstream, researchers try to make explicit the contextualization process in workflows building for facilitating reuse and propose contextualized services. Downstream, cloud computing is a technology that would bring a better orchestration of workflows but suppose a revision of workflow architecture. In any case, we are looking for people designing and developing workflows for real-world applications. The goal of C&C4WF 2013 workshop is to reinforce the role of workflows in the scientific community by introducing the dimensions of context and cloud computing (C&C). For this, we propose to meet three communities on context (context-based, context-aware, etc.), cloud computing and workflows to look for extension of workflows like contextualized workflows, cloud workflows and, if possible, contextualized cloud workflows. By increasing the overlapping on the three communities, we expect that each community will benefit from other communities. The C&C4WF 2013 workshop will be affiliated with IJCAI'13 and will take place in Beijing China on August 3-4, 2013. The workshop is for researchers and practitioners wishing to submit original manuscripts that demonstrate and explore current advances in all aspects combining context, cloud computing and workflows. A broad range of topics, including but not limited to: - Context models for workflows - Cloud techniques for workflows - C&C for workflows - Contextualized workflows applications and case studies - Cloud workflows applications and case studies - Examples of C&C workflows - Context-based workflow design - C&C workflows for decision-making - Knowledge and reasoning representation in extended workflows - Architectures for extended workflows
