The rise of NoSQL databases offer exciting opportunities and challenges. A NoSQL database does not use SQL as its query language and may not give full ACID guarantees. It has a distributed, fault-tolerant architecture. NoSQL database management systems are useful when working with a huge quantity of data and the data's nature does not require a relational model for the data structure. NoSQL databases are categorized according to the way they store the data and fall under categories such as key-value stores , document store databases, and graph databases and semi-structured databases.
We expect that workshop submissions will advocate fresh, unorthodox approaches advancing the state of the art in NoSQL database design and implementation. Ideas presented in the workshop are expected to lead to work that will appear in top-tier database conferences in the future. The NoSQL workshop aims to provide a forum for the cutting edge in database research where researchers can exchange ideas and engage in discussions with their colleagues.
