In the era of cloud computing, multimedia and Internet of Things, the research challenges in computing and communication are strictly related. Moreover, advancements in one field drive and stimulate progress in the other and vice-versa. This strong connection among such disciplines should be supported and enforced by adequate research efforts leading to their convergence.
In particular new and emerging technologies such as distributed and Cloud computing, on one hand, and network-communication technologies (Future Internet, Internet of things) on the other hand, should deal with issues arising from smart services and applications, involving several stakeholders (providers, customers, third parties, etc.), dynamically adapting to variable contexts and interacting with the environment.
An ecosystem of technologies and people that need to interact for providing solutions from a global perspective, having the Internet of Things on the background.
The solutions needed to address these challenges can only come by considering the problem from all perspectives: from network to distributed computing, from service engineering to context awareness, from data management to m2m.
Only collaborative efforts among researchers with different expertise, including end users, domain experts, communication and computer scientists, practitioners could lead to significant breakthroughs.
This workshop aims at bringing together scientists with all these different backgrounds to discuss, define and design methods and technologies for efficiently supporting Cloud technologies towards the Internet of Things.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to
machine-to-machine (M2M) interaction
Internet of Things
interaction between sensor networks and Cloud
