SCOPE
++++++++++++++++
HPC and Grid applications have become a highly important area because of their
potential of solving large-scale problems on science and engineering, and
thus have significant impact on the quality of all areas of life such as
health care, the environment, energy, food safety etc. HPC and Grid
applications also play an equally important role on driving the development of
computer architectures.

In order to provide an international forum for researchers and
practioners from both fields of application and computer science to share and
exchange their experiences, discuss challenges, present original ideas, and
report state-of-the-art and in-progress research results on HPC and Grid
Applications, IWHGA2009 is going to be held in Sanya, a Hawaii-like place in
China.

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

# HPC- or Grid-based E-science, E-engineering, E-economics, E-Finance etc.;
# Parallelization or grid-enablement for an existing application;
# Development of a new HPC or Grid application;
# Libraries, middleware, and tools for parallel or Grid applications;
# PSE or Workflow application for complex HPC or Grid applications;
# Data-centric HPC or Grid applications;
# HPC- or Grid-based visualization applications;
# Experience in using a HPC or Grid application;
# Fault-tolerance, low-latency, load-balancing strategies of HPC or Grid applications;
# Performance tuning of conventional applications;
# Performance estimation, measurement, and/or evaluation of a HPC or Grid application;
# Scientific computations based on recent architectures or machines such as Cell B./E. etc.
