eAccessibility 2013 - SIGACCESS 2013 : ACM Workshop: Constituent Event Towards an Inclusive Europe Reflections on the Digital Agenda for eAccessibility 2013
Topics/Call fo Papers
eAccessibility is part of Pillar 6 of the European Commission's Digital Agenda for Europe:
Over 50% of Europeans use the internet daily - but 30% have never used it at all! Moreover, disabled persons face particular difficulties in benefiting fully from new electronic content and services. As ever more daily tasks are carried out online, all our people need enhanced digital skills to participate fully in society. The Digital Agenda tackles this unacceptable digital divide.
A 2 day workshop on eAccessibility under the auspices of the ACM CHI 2013 Conference will be held to consider what progress has been made towards the eAccessibility aspirations in Europe and propose ways in which European stakeholders can push the digital agenda for eAccessibility further forward.
The workshop would produce a White Paper summarizing progress and making recommendations for future actions on eAccessibility in Europe.
The workshop will be organized by the European eAccess+ Network which includes leading European stakeholders in eAccessibility. Stakeholders from all areas relevant to eAccessibility from around Europe will be invited. Stakeholders from beyond Europe will also be very welcome to share and compare experiences from other countries.
The organization of the workshop will be lead by Professor Vicki Hanson from the School of Computing at the University of Dundee, Professor Helen Petrie from the Department of Computer Science at the University of York and Professor Klaus Miesenberger from the Institute Integriert Studieren at the University of Linz, Austria.
