Special Issue on “Immunity-Based Systems: Systems Sciences for Robust and Resilient Engineering”
Guest Editor: Prof. Dr. Yoshiteru Ishida
We are organizing a special issue on Immunity-Based Systems: Systems Sciences for Robust and Resilient Engineering for International Journal of Innovative Computing Information and Control (IJICIC). Immunity-based systems are innovative systems based on the features of the immune systems such as self-monitoring, adaptation, diversity and tolerance. This special issue aims at bringing together researchers working across fields such as sensor networks, information security and systems sciences. In an attempt to frame the immune system of Humans and Earth, we encounter with asymmetric interactions from Humans to Earth (Environmental problems such as global warming, climate change, and pollution) and Earth to Humans (Natural Disasters such as Earthquake and Tsunami). The special issue will focus on innovative tools and methodologies for not only for monitoring and sensing but for re-arrangement and adaptation to minimize the effects of natural disaster and organize a recovery from the disasters. A new paradigm and perspective for a reconciliation of humans and nature learned from the immune system such as diversity oriented approach and implementing a tolerance are also examples of agenda. The special issue calls for papers on Systems Sciences and Technologies for Robust and Resilient Engineering based on the features of the immune systems. For example, papers on the topic including, but are not limited to, the following areas of interest:
1. Self-Reflexive Computing (such as self-recognition networks, self-repairing networks and self-rewiring networks)
2. Adaptive Systems
3. Diversity Oriented Approach
4. Matching Management
5. Information Security
6. System Sensing
7. Robustness Oriented Theories and Tools for Disaster Situation
8. Global Monitoring of Environment and Human
* Paper Submission
The submission of a paper implies that the paper is original, has not been published or submitted under review or is not
copyright-protected elsewhere, and will be presented at the conference by an author if accepted. All submitted papers will
be refereed by experts in the field based on the criteria of originality, significance, quality, and clarity.
All submissions should be sent to the Guest Editor, Prof. Dr. Yoshiteru Ishida, via is12-AT-sys.cs.tut.ac.jp with the subject: IJICIC submission
*Publication Page Charge
All accepted papers in the special issue will be kindly asked to pay page charges in order to cover part of the publication
cost, which is the same policy used for regular issue papers.
* Important Dates
Due Date for paper submission: 30 November 2012
Notification of first round review: 21 February 2013
