17th International Conference on Evaluation and Assessment in Software Engineering (EASE’2013)
Porto de Galinhas, Brazil
April 14th-16th, 2013
Since 1997, the International Conference on Evaluation and Assessment in Software Engineering (EASE) has been a forum for knowledge sharing about issues related to empirical software engineering and its application to software development practice. In a workshop-like atmosphere, researchers can present and discuss the latest results from empirical and evaluation studies covering a wide range of software engineering topics.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
We invite the submission of high quality articles describing original and unpublished results of research work in all areas of Software Engineering. We encourage submissions of results with strong empirical foundations, although conceptual work with strong theoretical foundations is also welcome.
We welcome submissions addressing topics across the full spectrum of software engineering research. Topics encompass any relevant aspect of empirical studies of software engineering, and include, but are not limited to, the following:
Experiments and Quasi-experiments
Survey Research
Case studies
Ethnographic and Observational studies
Action research
Simulation Based Studies
Replications of empirical studies
Methodological issues and practices
Systematic reviews, mapping studies, and meta-analysis
We solicit submissions in the following tracks:
Technical Research (Full) Papers
Short Papers
New Ideas and Research Proposals
FULL PAPERS SUBMISSIONS
We invite high quality submissions of technical research papers describing original and unpublished results of software engineering research with strong empirical foundations. All papers must be submitted through the Web-based submission system (https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ease20...), and using PDF format only (please select 'track' "EASE 2013"). Papers are limited to 12 pages, must be written in English, and be formatted according to the IEEE authoring guidelines (http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formattin..., look for Templates). Any papers which exceed 12 pages, or are outside the scope of the conference, or do not follow the formatting guidelines will be rejected without review. At least one author of accepted full papers must register by the camera-ready deadline.
SHORT PAPERS SUBMISSIONS
This track provides an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to promote current work, research, practices, experiences, and issues related to empirical software engineering that are not mature enough to be submitted as full papers. All short papers must be submitted through the Web-based submission system (https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ease20...), and using PDF format only (please select 'track' "Short Papers"). Papers are limited to 6 pages, must be written in English, and be formatted according to the IEEE authoring guidelines (http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formattin..., look for Templates). Any papers which exceed 6 pages, or are outside the scope of the conference, or do not follow the formatting guidelines will be rejected without review. At least one author of accepted short papers must register by the camera-ready deadline.
NEW IDEAS AND RESEARCH PROPOSALS SUBMISSIONS
The goal of this track is to provide researchers with a forum for presenting and getting early feedback on novel research ideas, promising work, and research at the early stages of design and development that has not yet been fully evaluated. All New Ideas and Research Proposals papers must be submitted through the Web-based submission system (https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ease20...), and using PDF format only (please select 'track' "New Ideas"). Papers are limited to 4 pages, must be written in English, and be formatted according to the IEEE authoring guidelines (http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formattin..., look for Templates). Any papers which exceed 4 pages, or are outside the scope of the conference, or do not follow the formatting guidelines will be rejected without review. At least one author of accepted New Ideas and Research Proposals papers must register by the camera-ready deadline.
The presentation of accepted papers will be in poster format in a special session during the Conference. Posters will remain in display through the entire conference, providing opportunity for further presentation and discussion. Poster Sessions separate themselves from the Short Paper Sessions by allowing authors the ability to get immediate, personal feedback from conference attendees during the conference. Posters also provide conference attendees an opportunity to see emerging work in the field in a more relaxed setting.
PROCEEDINGS AND JOURNAL SPECIAL SECTION
All accepted papers in all three tracks will be included in the Conference Proceedings. Authors of the best full papers will be invited to submit extended versions for a special section of a prestigious journal (to be announced shortly).
