VenueArlington, USA - United States
Keywordssoftware engineering; Distributed System
Topics/Call fo Papers
Event-based systems are rapidly gaining importance in many application domains, ranging from real-time data processing in web environments, logistics and networking to complex event processing in finance and security. The event-based paradigm has gathered momentum as witnessed by current efforts in areas such as event-driven architectures, “big data” systems, complex event processing, publish/subscribe systems, business process management, grid computing, web services, information dissemination, stream processing, and message-oriented middleware. The DEBS conference attempts to bring together researchers and practitioners from these various communities to share their views and reach a common understanding of current research work and open challenges. The objectives of the DEBS Conference are to provide a forum dedicated to the dissemination of original research, the discussion of new practical insights, and the reporting of relevant experience relating to event-based computing that was previously scattered across several scientific and professional communities. The conference also provides a forum for facilitating the exchange of ideas between academia and industry, for example, through industry and demonstration papers.

The conference also provides a forum for facilitating the exchange of ideas between academia and industry, for example, through industry and demonstration papers.
The conference will (tentatively) consist of the following tracks:
?A Research Track featuring high-quality, peer-reviewed research papers.
?An Industry Track for systems and concepts and experience reports.
?A Tutorial Track geared towards both academia and industry.
?A Demonstration and Posters Track with practical demonstrations and early work.
?A Grand Challenges Track to test research and commercial systems.
?A Doctoral Workshop.
Scope of the Conference
The scope of the conference covers all topics relevant to event-based computing ranging from those discussed in related disciplines (e.g. software systems, distributed systems, data management, dependability, knowledge management, networking, programming languages, security and software engineering), to domain-specific topics of event-based computing (e.g. real-time analytics, mobile computing, social networking, pervasive and ubiquitous computing, sensors networks, user interfaces, “big data” processing, peer-to-peer computing and embedded systems), to enterprise-related topics (e.g. complex event detection, enterprise application integration, real-time enterprises and web services). Topics addressed by scientific papers may include (but are not limited to) models, architectures and paradigms of event-based systems, middleware systems and frameworks, and applications, experiences and requirements.
Preliminary Submission Dates (tentative)
Abstract Submission for Research and Industry Papers February 15, 2013
Tutorials, Research and Industry Papers Submission February 22, 2013
