Call for Papers
The 15th IEEE STEM conference will be held at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia over three days Dec. 17-20, 2012. This event is the 15th in series of technical conferences, originally called Technical Exchange Meeting, serving as a forum for scientists and engineers from academy and industry to exchange and discuss the latest research findings in solving real world problems from industry. The main theme for this year event is Next Generation Technologies. The focus will be on discussing the current technologies in EE and the challenges facing these technologies and new upcoming technologies. As with previous editions, STEM 2012 will also be held under the auspices of the IEEE. The conference will include a number of keynotes presentations and tutorials, and regular papers for oral and poster sessions. Some papers will be selected for publication, after re-reviewing of an extended version, in selected international journals. Original and unpublished work relevant to, but are not limited to, the following topics is hereby solicited:
Power and Energy Systems:
PES1. Power quality and grounding
PES2. Electricity markets and deregulation.
PES3. Renewable energy & distibuted generators
PES4. Power systems optimization and planning Telecommunication Systems:
CMM1. Telecommunication systems
CMM2. Network technologies and services
CMM3. Propagation, smart antennas and models
CMM4. Green wireless communications
Signal Processing and Applications:
DSP1. Speech and audio processing
DSP2. Image and video processing
DSP3. Pattern recognition and machine learning
DSP4. Biomedical signal processing Engineering Education & Professional Training:
EET1. Education systems and accreditation models
EET2. Innovation in teaching and learning
EET3. University Industry collaboration systems
EET4. E-learning systems and technologies
Industrial Applications:
IAP1. Engineering tools for industry
IAP2. Information, data transportation technologies
IAP3. Regulation, standards and market analysis
PAPER SUBMISSION
Prospective authors are invited to submit full length (four pages, IEEE format) papers via the conference website. In addition to regular papers, all submitted papers must specify clearly the selected area and all papers will be subjected to a blind peer-review.

SPECIAL SESSIONS
Special Sessions proposals should be submitted by September 3, 2012. Proposals for special sessions must include a topical title, rationale, session outline, contact information for the session chair(s), a list of authors who have agreed to present a paper in the session, and a tentative title and abstract of each paper.
TUTORIALS
Tutorials will be held on the first day of the conference. Proposal for tutorials must include a title, an outline of the tutorial and its motivation, and a short CV of the presenter(s).
TRAVEL GRANTS
The conference committee has secured sponsorship for a limited number of travel support mainly to graduate students. The details can be found on the conference website.
