The 1st International Workshop on Smart Technologies for Energy,
Information and Communication (STEIC2012)
October 18-19, 2012 -- Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan
The recent Information and Communication technologies have
produced high-performance information devices and systems. They
are essential in supporting the economic development of human
society as well as people’s daily life and work. According to
the sophistication of various equipments and systems, their power
consumption had been increased. Recently, the world population
exceeded 7.0 billion and the energy consumption tends to
increase. To build sustainable society, which coexist with the
global environment, it becomes an important and pressing problem
to create new technologies, so-called smart technologies by which
various information and knowledge are applied to and/or utilized
in the design and development of the intelligent, resilient,
ecological artifact and services.
Aim of STEIC2012 is to explore and discuss about present and
future of the smart technologies and their applications from a
viewpoint of energy, information and communication. The workshop
seeks contributions presenting novel research in all aspects of
smart technologies, as well as systems, software and hardware
solutions dealing with applications of smart technologies.
We welcome technical papers presenting research and practical
results, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specific
proposals, survey papers addressing the key problems and
solutions, and short papers on work in progress. The topics
suggested by the workshop can be discussed in term of concepts,
state of the art, research, standards, implementations, running
experiments, applications, and industrial case studies. All
topics and submission formats are open to both research and
industry contributions.
