CDC4CV 2012 - 2nd Workshop on Consumer Depth Cameras for Computer Vision (CDC4CV)
Topics/Call fo Papers
The arrival of Microsoft's Kinect, with $150 a unit and 8 million sales in two months is causing a revolution. A lot of people, researchers or not, believe that we are witnessing a new aera, arguably the first time computer vision technologies to have a profound impact on consumer electronics. We believe that affordable depth cameras are also to change the landscape of vision and vision-related research, being available to everyone and enabling robust vision applications across a range of domains such as robotics and HCI. The purpose of this workshop is to understand the scope and impact of the fast growing Kinect-based research activities, to bring together researchers from multiple fields and perspectives, and to discuss the major research problems and opportunities and how we should coordinate efforts to lead the depth camera revolution.
