ISEI 2012 - The 8th International Conference on Ecological informatics
Topics/Call fo Papers
8th International Conference on Ecological Informatics
Informing decisions on biodiversity and natural resources conservation
Brasília, 4-7 December, 2012
After successful biennial conferences of the International Society for Ecological Informatics ISEI since 1998 in France, Australia, Italy, South Korea, United States, Mexico and Belgium, the 8th ISEI Conference will be hosted by Brazil in 2012.
The conference theme Informing Decisions on Biodiversity and Natural Resources Conservation addresses such crucial environmental issues as ecological data acquisition and visualisation by remote sensing and GIS, ecogenomics and biogeography, ecological data assimilation and sharing, integration and sharing of ecological models, as well as decision-support systems.
Ecological informatics is providing frameworks and tools for informing decisions on complex environmental challenges both at small and large scales exemplarily documented in 6 volumes of the international journal Ecological Informatics issued since 2006.
The organising committee is confident that the 8th ISEI conference will provide a multidisciplinary forum to further stimulate communication and collaboration between ecologists, computer scientists, environmental engineers, decision makers and stakeholders towards sustainable solutions of complex environmental problems beneficial to all parties involved.
To hold this conference for the first time in South America is a tribute to the achievements in science and society of the continent in general and of Brazil in particular.
