Introduction
The pasting three decades has witnessed that China transformed itself from a planning to a market-oriented economy. China is now positioned as the second-largest economy in the world, but it has come with a high price: Compared with other countries, China is more serious in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Such a kind of economic achievement is hard to be defined as sustainable. China’s policymakers - no longer content with the country's role as the "world's factory" ? have promised to build a more innovation-oriented economics, moving from a model of “made in China” to one of “innovated in China”.
This event, IFIOE’12, aims to bring together researchers and practitioners in the field of economics, management and engineering from across the world to explore China-related innovation and sustainability issues. Technical exchanges within the research community will take in the form of keynote speeches, panel discussions, special sessions, as well as oral and poster presentations. In addition, participants will be treated to a series of social functions, receptions and networking sessions, which will serve to establish new connections, foster friendships, and forge collaborations.
