Overview:

Since the popularity of models and related tools for the development
of software has become more mature, the applications of approaches
from this community has begun to be used on models of physical
objects, such as buildings, machines and biological systems. This
has revealed to software tool researchers that modelling and model
manipulation from physical world perspectives has been applied a lot
longer in many of these domains than in software. However, as
software modelling follows software trends, software modellers and
tool builders have been able to take advantage of new developments
such as the open-source movement, and agile software methodologies.

The software modelling movement has increasingly drawn biologists,
architects, engineers and others concerned with physical systems to
the software modelling community. There is an emerging sympathy
between software modelling and physical systems modelling due to
their essential similarity in knowledge abstraction and
representation. The emergence of MDE has provided a profusion of
tools and techniques for model storage, editing, visualisation,
transformation and simulation - which are all key concerns for
modellers of physical systems.

This workshop aims to meet two complimentary goals: providing a
focus on physical modelling and its use of software engineering
approaches; and attempting to learn lessons in the software
community from the longer established disciplines of modelling
real-world objects and systems. We also hope that some islands in
the IT community may be bridged through the example of links
between models used in physical disciplines and software models.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

* General Approaches for modelling physical systems including:

- Geometry, Physics, Chemistry, Biology
* Approaches to modelling and simulation of physical systems
* Relationships between physical and virtual models

e.g. sensors and actuators relating to software control
* Methodologies and experimental approaches for creation of models
* Application of model-driven techniques to models of

- Architecture & Engineering

- Manufacturing & Mechanical Systems

(e.g. Automotive & Aerospace)

- Cyber-Physical Systems Models

- Natural Phenomena

- Biological & Medical Phenomena

- Physical Networks (e.g. Eletricity Grids &

Communications Networks)
* Application of model-driven techniques to facilitate efficient

implementation of computational models of physical systems
* Application of physical world modelling techniques and

technologies to software modelling
* Model interchange and interoperability between technological domains

Submissions:

We invite submissions of short papers up to 2 pages, and long papers
of up to 6 pages in the ACM DL format. Submissions can be made
through the EasyChair Workshop submission site. Papers accepted
for presentation at the workshop will also be published in ACM
Digital Library.
