SCOPE

Cloud computing is fast emerging as a computation paradigm based on pooling and sharing computational and memory resources, as well as, software and platforms in central locations. This concept of managing the resources centrally and providing the front end with hardware, software and platform as services introduce a number of advantages, such as better utilization of resources, ease of maintenance and administration and lower costs. The realization of cloud concept for simulations and training networks is already proved to be practical. However, still intensive technical research efforts are required especially in inter-cloud simulation service discovery, efficient simulation federation formation, multi-level security, resource and service monitoring and migration, load balancing and composability. In general it is clear that that simulation of every complex scenario and not only on pure engineering and structural applications can gain great benefits from development of models to be run over a cloud.

Cloud4Sim 2012 is intended to provide a forum for researchers to present their contributions as technical papers related to computer simulation and cloud and grid computing, considering data management, security issues, distributed and interoperable simulations and training/exercise networks. The papers solicited in Cloud4Sim 2012 cover a variety of topics including but not limited to:

- Cloud Computing for computer simulations
- Resource pooling and allocation for distributed and interoperable simulations in clouds
- Multi-level security for training and education clouds
- Inter-cloud resource management
- Interoperability and composability for simulation inter-clouds
- Model registration and discovery in inter-clouds
- Setting, scenario and data management in clouds for simulations
- Training, education, exercise and experimentation networks and cloud computing
- Standards for computer simulations and cloud architectures
- Forming federations (i.e., discovering model and data services, federating models, executing and managing a federation) in simulation clouds
- Applications for simulation clouds
- Simulation of Cloud Computing
- Load balancing and service migration in inter-clouds
