IEEE 2nd International Workshop on Multicell Cooperation
in conjunction with IEEE GLOBECOM 2012, Anaheim, CA, USA
Workshop Date: Friday, 7 December 2012
Multicell cooperation is a new communication paradigm promising significant system capacity targeting intercell interference elimination. It has been shown recently that, with the aid of multicell cooperation, a significant improvement of cellular systems' performance can be achieved and the increase in throughput can be as large as an order of magnitude. In view of the tremendous potential advantages of the technology, multicell cooperation is being adopted in various communication standards, such as 3GPP LTE-Advanced and IEEE 802.16m, as effective means to improve the coverage of high data rate services and to increase the system throughput.

Although the advantages of multicell cooperation have been demonstrated, many more problems related to developing practical and effective schemes have emerged and remain open and have attracted considerable research attentions. Therefore, this workshop is intended to foster state-of-the-art research forensics in the area of multicell cooperation from academic and industrial researcher. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

? Transmission schemes for multicell cooperation
? Downlink and uplink PHY/MAC design for multicell cooperation
? CoMP in LTE-advanced
? Resource allocation and power control for cooperative communications
? Network MIMO
? Distributed antenna systems
? Cooperation in homogeneous and heterogeneous networks
? Cooperative or coordinated beamforming
? Multicell cooperation architecture and protocol design
? Backhaul issues in multicell cooperation
? Standardization and regulatory aspects and activities
? Energy-efficient communication in multicell cooperation
? System capacity, outage probability, performance analysis, and optimization
? Experimental testbeds and field trail results
? Coordinated interference management, cancellation, and mitigation

The workshop accepts only novel, previously unpublished papers. Prospective authors are encouraged to submit a 5-page standard IEEE conference style paper to this workshop (including all text, figures, and references) through the EDAS submission system. (If any problem during submission is encountered, please contact the workshop chair). Accepted papers must be presented at the workshop. The presenter must register for the workshop before the deadline for author registration. Failure to register before the deadline will result in automatic withdrawal of the paper from the workshop proceedings and the program. All papers selected for publication will be included in the IEEE Globecom proceedings and IEEE digital library. One additional page is allowed but with a charge for the one additional page of USD100.

Important Dates:

? Submission due: June 1, 2012
? Decision notification due: August 15, 2012
? Camera-ready and registration due: September 15, 2012
