Topics/Call fo Papers

SHPCloud-2012 will be the second Workshop of Sustainable High Performance Cloud Computing after the first workshop in Banff, Canada, September 2011.
For 2012, we will have a new focus on auction-based cloud computing. Auction-based clouds offer the users the most cost effective computing option. It also gives providers the most efficient resource utilization option. The only obstacle to make this win-win combination to become reality is our programming methods. Existing methods are incapable of handling volatile environments. As the computing clouds gain momentum for many applications, this unique resource provides an unparalleled opportunity for HPC research and development.
The sustainable computing challenge can be stated as the β€œ1 + 1” challenge ? can we gain performance and reliability at the same time when adding resources? Solutions to this challenge can have profound practical and theoretical impacts in computer science research and development. If a solution does exist, it would then become a counter-example to the impossibility proof of the CAP Theorem. In practice, it would change the landscape of enterprise computing for the future.
