IICST 2012 - Innovations in Information and Communication Science and Technology 2nd Postgraduate Consortium International Workshop
Topics/Call fo Papers
Agility, broad expertise, knowledge-intensive design, distributed development by multinational teams, global markets, and heavy reliance on rapidly evolving information technology throughout the product life cycle are imperative characteristics of modern industry. To prepare specialists capable of successfully dealing with these challenges, educational institutions worldwide strive to find and implement new mechanisms for teaching premier technical knowledge in combination with relevant socio-cultural competencies and professional communication skills. The “Innovations in Information and Communication Science and Technology” Postgraduate Consortium International Workshop, IICST 2012, is one practical realization of the new educational mechanisms.
Building on the success of its 2011 predecessor, the IICST 2012 Workshop is intended to bring together graduate students and young researchers working in the field of information and communication science and technology, and give them an opportunity to discuss their studies in an international atmosphere with prominent scholars and engineers, prompting all kinds of collaboration and cooperation among participants.
The goal of IICST 2012 is, therefore, threefold:
To provide constructive feedback on and “benchmark” work of selected students and young researchers via peer comparison and analysis in an international context.
To give the opportunity to meet experts from a variety of fields and promote their discussions on topics related to information and communication science and technology.
To promote interactions and stimulate an exchange of ideas among all participants.
A distinctive feature of this year’s event is the focus on research and developments with a social significance ? a projected positive impact on society as a whole. More specifically, the Technology Track of the Workshop will consist of reports on applications, systems, and technologies intended for welfare organizations, the elderly and impaired, for preservation of natural resources, for disaster mitigation, and the like. Studies dealing with fundamental issues must have clear prospects for practical application, and are to be discussed in the Science Track of IICST 2012. There will also be a dedicated session to discuss economic, managerial, and entrepreneurial issues.
A list of application-independent topics for IICST 2012 includes:
Human-machine interaction and relevant models of human behavior
Multimedia digital archives and related technologies
Embedded and distributed systems, agent-based systems and technologies
Telecommunication systems and technologies
Novel Web technologies (e.g. cloud computing, social intelligence, semantic Web, etc.)
Computer-based entertainment systems
Computer networks and mobile communication
Affective engineering and ergonomics
Advanced computer graphics and knowledge-intensive image processing
Virtual reality, including augmented reality and diminished reality
Social network analysis, SNS systems and technologies
IT in education, including education support and distance learning systems
Advanced robots, mechatronic systems, control technology and system integration
Hydroinformatics and information systems for civil engineering
Power Electronics
Quantum computing
Bioinformatics
Commercialization and entrepreneurship in ICT, and relevant models of economics
