BCC 2012 - international workshop "Beauty: Commons vs. Contests"

The international workshop Beauty: Commons versus Contests wants to investigate the way that beauty is being commodified and how it is being negotiated and renegotiated in local and global contexts via magazines, advertisement and television. Moreover it wants to look at the effects of globalizing beauty standards on people’s identification and wellbeing.
