Audio 2012 - 7th Conference on Interaction with Sound
Topics/Call fo Papers
Audio Mostly 2012 ? “A conference on interaction with sound”
September 26 ? 28, 2012 ? Corfu, Greece
Audio in all its forms ? music, sound effects, or dialogue - holds tremendous potential to engage, convey narrative, inform, dramatize, create attention and enthrall. However, in computer-based environments, for example games, nowadays the interaction abilities through and with sound are still not sufficiently explored. The Audio Mostly Conference provides a venue to explore and promote this untapped potential of audio by bringing together audio experts, content creators, interaction designers, and behavioral researchers.
The area of interest covers new sound applications that demand or allow for some kind of interactive response from their listener, particularly in scenarios where screens and keyboards are unavailable, unsuitable or disturbing. This area implies cognitive research and psychology, as well as technological innovations in audio analysis, processing and rendering. The aim is to both describe and push the boundaries of sound-based interaction in various domains, such as gaming, serious gaming, education, entertainment, digital arts and safety.
The theme this year is “Sound as future vision”
The theme covers ways that in the future may allow sound to play a different role compared to now. In this future sound may also inherit characteristics and significance that visual component (graphics and vision) has today. Contributions addressing sound and sonic design in potential future fields are encouraged.
Topics of Interest:
Audio Mostly conference is strongly interdisciplinary and provides a space for alternative creative approaches. Hence, prospective contributions are not limited to narrow themes. The following areas of interest are indicative:
Sound design for information and mobility contexts
Sound design for communication, education or therapy
Audio broadcasting, podcasting and audio books / games
Alternative interfaces for interactive sound and music
Affective sound design and audio interfaces
Audio technologies for social networking
